San Francisco startup Weave Robotics has opened preorders for Isaac 1, a wheeled home robot priced at $7,999. Designed specifically for household chores like folding laundry and tidying, the robot utilizes a wheeled base and adjustable height rather than a humanoid form. A key feature is its reliance on remote human teleoperators when the onboard AI encounters difficulties, a model that raises privacy concerns but ensures task completion. With deliveries starting in California this fall and a broader U.S. rollout planned for 2027, Weave is betting that purpose-built, affordable machines will reach living rooms faster than general-purpose humanoids, undercutting competitors like 1X’s Neo by more than half.
Humanoids perform first surgical procedures

Zoox redesigns robotaxi interior for durability
